Lodz University of Technology Press:
- applies standards of ethical behaviour towards all parties involved in the publishing process;
- follows fair and ethical procedures for the qualification, selection and review of texts submitted for publication;
- decides whether to accept a work for publication in an open and transparent manner, based on publicly available criteria;
- shall base its decisions on acceptance or rejection of a book, on the one hand, on its merits, originality, scientific integrity, clarity, and correctness of the argument, assessment of the impact of the future work on the development of science and, on the other hand, on the opinion of at least two independent specialists in the discipline concerned providing editorial reviews.
When qualifying a paper for publication, particular attention is paid to the reliability of the sources cited by the authors, the reliability and precision of the citation and the development of the scientific apparatus of the publication (footnotes, bibliography, description of sources).
If an author is found to have violated even one of the ethical principles (e.g. plagiarism, fabrication of data, false list of authors, ghost authorship, guest authorship, duplicate publication, submission of the same text to more than one publishing house/journal), the Managing Editor/Director of TUL Press is obliged to reject the text and inform the author of the outcome of the proceedings and the actions of the editorial board.
The publisher, alone or in agreement with the scientific editor of a multi-author work, may decide both to withdraw the text from publication (if there are indications of its unreliability – identified features of plagiarism or violations of publishing ethics) and to make corrections to already published material.
Each positively reviewed work accepted for publication goes through the subsequent stages of the publishing process:
Unpublished texts are not made available to any person not involved in the publishing process without the written consent of the authors. TUL Press guarantees the confidentiality and protection of the content of the submitted publications and the security of personal data of the authors, their collaborators, reviewers and other parties involved in the publishing process.
